Fault after truck accident causes catastrophic injury

Trucks and other commercial vehicles serve a major purpose in business and in the economy. They bring goods to the people that need them and sell them and they also serve an important role in the job sector by creating jobs. However, commercial trucks are large in size and weight and thus can be dangerous to themselves and other drivers on the road. When something goes awry with a commercial vehicle, it can result in catastrophic injuries for others.

The first thing to understand about commercial trucks is that they are regulated and governed by a stricter set of guidelines than are the typical motor vehicle driver. Normal rules regarding speeding and distracted driving still apply to truck drivers, and the companies that employ them, but so do other stricter regulations about drive-time and mandated breaks. These additional regulations are in place almost exclusively to keep truck drivers, and other people on the road, safe. When a truck accident happens, fault may lie with a number of different parties, including the truck driver.

Truck driver fatigue is a real possibility, especially if he or she was not taking the mandated breaks. Truck logs are required by law, and detail things like driver breaks, truck maintenance and other details about a commercial vehicle and the driver's history. A full investigation of these logs can give clues as to who could be at fault for contributing to a commercial vehicle accident and any corresponding injuries. At Dock Blanchard & Trip Green Personal Injury Trial Law, we respect that your injuries are detrimental to you and your loved ones and will do everything in our power to work for a favorable outcome in a personal injury suit.

With over 50 years of experience in commercial vehicle accidents, we are fully aware of the mayhem they can cause. Many truck accidents result in serious injuries that can leave people wondering what to do next, as this is often uncharted territory for most injury victims. Improper maintenance, missed breaks or even unauthorized towing weight could have contributed to a truck accident injury.
