Apparent failure to yield causes car-motorcycle crash in Florida

Motorcyclists are a common site in Ocala and throughout Florida. While most drivers of conventional vehicles will keep a close eye on them and share the road with them in a safe manner, there are still bound to be motorcycle accidents. Because riders are not accorded the same inherent protection that a driver of a conventional automobile is, there is a good chance that the rider will be injured or even killed in a crash. When this happens, the injured biker or the family of a biker who has died needs to have an idea of how to seek compensation for all they have lost.

Unfortunately, a local motorcyclist recently suffered critical injuries when he was hit by a turning vehicle. The rider, 29, was heading west when a 72-year-old woman turned in front of him. The accident occurred at around 2:45 p.m. The man was riding a 2012 Harley-Davidson and the woman was driving a 2016 Nissan Ventra. Witnesses stated that that the traffic light was green for the motorcyclist. As the bike reached the intersection, the woman turned left and entered his path. He was thrown from the bike. The Nissan flipped over onto its side. The biker was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. The woman was also injured, but they are not considered to be life-threatening.

With a motorcycle accident and the accompanying injuries, a rider will likely be faced with medical costs from a hospital stay, the need for surgical procedures and rehab, and perhaps an inability to return to work and normal daily activities. These injuries can lead to permanent damage and death. Families will need to deal with these financial and personal issues that go along with accidents involving motorcyclists. Given the number of issues that can accompany these accidents, those who were affected need to make sure that the accident investigations provide all the necessary information and that they have an advocate who will investigate the case with their interests in mind.

In this incident, witnesses have stated that the driver committed a failure to yield and caused the crash. Even with that information, it is still wise for a family to consider legal help in garnering all the evidence they can to pursue compensation in an accident case. For assistance, Florida residents may wish to call an attorney experienced in motorcycle crashes.
