Car accidents: Florida driver killed in 2-car collision

When Florida residents get behind the wheel, they likely do not expect to have their lives disrupted by a collision. Besides possible property damage, car accidents can often result in serious injuries or even fatalities, which are issues no one wants to experience. One family lost a loved one in a recent accident that is still being investigated.

The two cars involved collided at an intersection on the afternoon of March 21. It is reported that one car likely struck the other at an angle, though no other details were given. Reporters on the scene indicated that both vehicles were completely destroyed from the force of the impact. Miami Gardens Police Department traffic homicide unit is currently investigating the cause of the crash.

One of the drivers suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital where that driver later died. A child passenger was severely injured and is currently in critical condition at the hospital. Police report that the other driver is in critical condition after also receiving serious injuries. No word on whether any of those involved were using safety restraints.

When car accidents like this occur, families of victims need to know their rights and how they might pursue them. Families may consider filing a wrongful death claim in order to hold the appropriate party responsible. Similarly, seriously injured victims may also have legal recourse. If a wrongful death or personal injury claim is successful, monetary damages could then be awarded to help pay for financial losses and other damages recognized by applicable law. An experienced Florida personal injury attorney can assist families by providing guidance and support throughout the process of filing a claim in civil court.
