Negligent drivers often cause auto accidents in Florida

There are many reasons a driver might be considered negligent in the aftermath of a crash. Drinking and driving, texting while driving or even failure to remain aware of surroundings can all lead to auto accidents. Police reports indicate that the third example is the likely cause of a recent Florida accident that led to one fatality.

The incident occurred on a stretch of highway where two lanes merged into one. The driver of the charter bus failed to slow down when the lanes merged, resulting in the bus rear-ending the SUV in front of it. The force of the initial hit caused the SUV to then crash into the car in front of it.

According to Florida State Highway Patrol, the 81-year-old driver of the SUV suffered fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither the driver nor the passengers of the charter bus were injured in the accident. The driver of the other car involved was also unharmed.

When auto accidents like this occur, the families of victims may consider seeking the advice of an experienced personal injury attorney to file a wrongful death claim in civil court. If their claim can prove negligence on behalf of the opposing party, the family could then be granted monetary compensation to cover end-of-life expenses and related monetary damages. Any Florida family that has lost a loved one due to a negligent driver has the right to consult an attorney to discuss the legal options they may be able to pursue.
