Florida auto accidents: 2 EMTs killed in crash

Roadways are often dangerous locations. Though most drivers are cautious, auto accidents still happen frequently for a number of reasons. Two EMT paramedics were recently killed in an early morning accident in Florida.

The paramedics were on their way back to their station after dropping off a patient at a hospital when the collision occurred. Reports indicate that a driver in another vehicle attempted to make a U-turn. In doing so, the driver pulled out in front of the ambulance and struck its passenger side. The force of the impact caused the ambulance to overturn.

When the ambulance rolled, the paramedics were trapped inside. Rescuers had to use extraction tools to remove them from the wreckage. Both of the victims passed away, though the media report did not include information about the specific injuries suffered. The other driver was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.

Because the crash resulted in the deaths of two of the victims, the families of those victims may be able to file wrongful death claims against the driver believed responsible. If their claim successfully proves negligence on behalf of the driver believed to be at fault, they could then be awarded monetary damages that could help pay for funeral costs and other financial losses related to the accident. Any families who have lost loved ones in auto accidents on Florida roadways may be entitled to file wrongful death lawsuits in civil court. Experienced personal injury attorneys could provide more information to those interested and assist families in navigating the claims process.
