Florida motorcycle accidents may lead to fatalities

Motor vehicle collisions can easily occur when drivers fail to obey traffic laws. Speeding is a common cause of crashes and can result in serious injuries. This is particularly true regarding motorcycle accidents. A Florida motorcyclist was recently killed in a collision after being hit by a car on June 9.

The accident is currently still under investigation, though speeding is believed to be a possible factor. According to witnesses, a driver in a sedan crashed into the motorcyclist. Reports indicate that upon impact, the motorcycle flipped, ejecting the biker. It then caught fire and exploded.

A witness to the collision stopped and attempted to assist the motorcyclist. However, upon approaching, the witness found the biker already deceased. The man stated that the victim's lower extremities had been severed in the crash. No injuries to the driver of the sedan were reported and police stated that the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Loss of life is always tragic. Though nothing can replace loss of life, the victim's family may consider filing a wrongful death claim in civil court against the driver believed to be at fault. If their claim successfully proves the driver negligent, they could be awarded monetary damage that could help pay for funeral costs or any other financial losses related to the crash. Any Florida residents who have lost loved ones in motorcycle accidents may consult experienced personal injury attorneys for more information about these types of claims and to gain assistance in filing them.
