Young man killed in Ocala motorcycle accident

Young people, especially young males, tend to be more likely to take risks. One of those risks may be riding small, fast vehicles, like motorcycles, that tend to be less safe than larger modes of transportation. While there is nothing wrong with this in and of itself, it does mean that when things go wrong, it is a younger person that ends up paying the price, even if he himself wasn't directly at fault.

A 23-year-old man from Belleview is now dead due to a serious motorcycle accident in the area. Apparently, in the hour before 7 a.m. last Saturday, the young man was traveling east on a local street when approaching the intersection of U.S. Route 301. A Ford Escape driven by a 53-year-old woman approached the intersection in the opposite direction at about the same time. According to reports, the woman did not see the motorcycle, and commenced to turn left through the intersection, placing her vehicle in the path of the motorcycle.

The young man was separated from his vehicle, and landed on the grass in the median. While he was wearing a helmet, the 23-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. While the traffic light at the intersection was green for both parties in this case, vehicles turning left through an intersection are generally supposed to yield to those traveling straight. At this point, the report does not mention if the driver of the Ford was cited for failure to yield.

We don't know for sure if the fact that it was around dawn had an effect on the fact that the Ford driver didn't see the motorcycle, these types of possibilities should be taken into account.

The loved ones of those killed in motorcycle accidents should understand that it is possible that they could recover legal damages if someone was negligent and caused the fatal accident.
