Commercial vehicle accidents are often deadly

It is common knowledge that collisions between cars can cause serious injuries and property damage. Commercial vehicle accidents may be even worse, however, due to the larger size of the vehicles involved. One person was killed and several others were injured in a recent crash involving a recreational vehicle and a tractor-trailer in Florida.

According to authorities, the driver of the RV had pulled onto the road shoulder to fix a flat tire. A van traveling with the RV also pulled over. For reasons that are still unclear, the semi involved veered off the roadway and collided with both the RV and the van. The RV then caught fire.

A total of nine people were involved in the crash. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Six were taken to area hospitals in conditions ranging from serious to critical. The other two people involved, one of which was the driver of the semi, declined medical treatment.

Due to the severe injuries suffered in this collision, those injured may choose to file individual personal injury claims against the truck driver. If their claims successfully prove negligence on his part, they could receive monetary damages that could help pay for medical bills and any other financial expenses related to the crash. Similarly, the family of the deceased victim may consider filing a wrongful death claim. Anyone who has suffered injuries from or has lost a family member due to commercial vehicle accidents could speak to experienced Florida personal injury attorneys to obtain more information about these types of claims.
