Fatalities often result from motorcycle accidents

Florida drivers who fail to obey traffic laws not only put themselves but everyone around them in danger. This is especially true when sharing the road with smaller vehicles, such as motorcycles. Because of the lack of protection provided by larger automobiles, motorcycle accidents may result in serious injury or even death. Two people were recently killed in one such collision.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist and his passenger were traveling northbound on a local boulevard at the time of the crash. Another driver was headed west and reportedly failed to yield to the biker. Charges against the driver believed to be responsible are still pending.

The two riders on the motorcycle were taken to an area hospital where they both died from their injuries. The driver of the car suffered only minor injuries. Police have stated that they did not believe that alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Whether or not criminal charges will be filed against the driver believed to be at fault, the families of the deceased victims may choose to file wrongful death lawsuits in civil court. If their claims successfully prove the driver was negligent, they could receive compensation in the form of monetary damages that could help pay for medical bills, funeral costs and any other expenses related to the collision. Anyone who has lost loved ones in motorcycle accidents could consult with experienced Florida personal injury attorneys to learn more about these types of claims and obtain assistance in filing them.
