Florida car accidents: 3 killed in multi-car crash

In addition to the property damage motor vehicle collisions often cause, many result in serious injury as well. This is particularly true of car accidents involving multiple vehicles. Three people were killed in a recent multi-car crash in Florida.

According to authorities, a young woman attempted to pass other cars when she lost control of her vehicle, striking one of the cars. The force of the impact pushed that car across the median into the opposite lanes, where it then struck two other vehicles. The first car that was hit then burst into flames.

Two witnesses attempted to aid the driver of the burning car. Tragically, that driver died at the scene. Another adult and a child, not initially seen because of the smoke, also lost their lives. Police suspect the driver who allegedly caused the crash may have been under the influence of either alcohol or drugs due to a failed field sobriety test. She was arrested and charged with several offenses, including DUI manslaughter.

When victims lose their lives in car accidents like this, their families must face not only with the emotional toll but the financial one as well. To cope with these burdens, surviving family may choose to file wrongful death claims against a driver believed to be at fault. A successful claim could then provide monetary damages that could help pay for medical bills, funeral costs and any other related expenses. Anyone interested in learning more about such claims could consult an experienced Florida personal injury attorney.
