Florida motorcycle accidents too often cause serious injuries

It is commonly known that automobile collisions can cause property damage and injury. However, motorcycle accidents are often more serious for victims because they do not offer as much protection as larger traditional vehicles like cars or trucks. One Florida woman was recently severely injured in a crash with a hit-and-run driver.

Authorities have not released specific details of the events leading up to the collision. However, what is known is that a woman and her husband were riding their motorcycles together on a local road when another motorist in a car struck them both. Police stated that following the accident, the driver of the car attempted to flee the scene.

The female victim was reportedly run over in the crash. She was airlifted to an area hospital and is currently in critical condition. The male biker only suffered minor injuries. The driver of the car was apprehended by police in a nearby parking lot and is now in custody. Police said that the driver would have likely only been given a citation had he or she stayed at the scene instead of fleeing.

When situations like this occur, victims may be entitled to file personal injury claims in civil court against drivers believed to be at fault. If the claim successfully proves a driver negligent, claimants may be awarded monetary damages that could be used to pay for medical bills or any other related financial expenses. Victims of motorcycle accidents can consult experienced Florida personal injury attorneys to learn more about these types of claims and to obtain assistance in filing them.
