Mother files premises liability lawsuit against son's school

Florida has a plethora of attractions and locations that many in-state residents and people from all over the world desire to visit year round. Due to the large crowds, owners of any establishments open to the public must be vigilant to maintain a safe environment at all times to protect those who enter. Obvious neglect can result in a premises liability lawsuit. One mother in another state has accused the public school system of similar neglect, following the injury of her son on its premises.

According to the lawsuit, an unspecified liquid was on the floor on the boy's bathroom at the public school that the woman's son attended. Her son entered the bathroom and slipped on the liquid. As the lawsuit claims, the warning sign of a slippery floor had not been placed.

The lawsuit further claims that the boy suffered a serious injury as a result of the fall. Long-term medical care is expected to be needed for the injury, which is claimed to have resulted in permanent disability. The amount of compensation sought in the lawsuit has not been specified.

While each individual person has a responsibility to be aware of dangers around them, dangers in public places are not always evident. Establishments bear the responsibility to eliminate dangers and protect those within their property. Anyone who has suffered a similar injury could benefit from speaking to a personal injury attorney in Florida about the details of their specific case, to find out if a premises liability lawsuit is an option to help finance any medical expenses related to the injury.
